Welcome to the Hypnotic Idea Exchange!

Today, as we continue to experience a pandemic of unprecedented scale, clinicians who are skilled in hypnosis possess a powerful tool to help people during these times of crisis and beyond. Also, those who employ hypnosis in their work are discovering a wide range of opportunities to personalize hypnotic ideas, stories, suggestions and metaphors in ways that will help their clients navigate the challenges of today’s evolving crises.

These meetings bring together leading experts and practitioners of hypnosis to exchange ideas on what they are doing in their work. It will offer participants: 1) Powerful insights from a panel of experts – ideas that can be readily applied in their hypnotic work as well as their own lives, 2) A forum to practice new techniques and share creative hypnotic ideas of their own with each other and the panel, and 3) A source of professional community and camaraderie during these unprecedented, uncertain and unfathomable times.

Please contact us if you have suggestions for speakers, ideas to share based on HIE presentations, or if you want to get involved in leading this effort.

The HIE is a collaborative effort of the North Carolina, Northern Virginia, Eastern Society, and New Jersey Component Sections of ASCH.

Coming Up Next!

Please join us Monday, November 11th, 7:30 – 9:30 PM EST for the 53rd HIE (Hypnotic Idea Exchange), featuring Dr. Rubin Battino, author of Ericksonian Approaches - A Comprehensive Manual, and biographical plays about Viktor Frankl and Milton Erickson. He was on the faculty of the Milton Erickson Foundation’s meetings on hypnosis for over 10 years, and specializes in single-session therapy and counseling using hypnosis. At the November HIE, he will present on two approaches he uses to elicit from clients their own solutions to their difficulties. One of these approaches features guided imagery, while the other one (time permitting) an “exorcism.”

More About the Presenter:

Rubin Battino, LPCC, OH, has been in private practice in Yellow Springs in counseling since 1978 when he received his MS in mental health counseling from Wright State University. (See www.rubinbattino.com for a full list of his publications which include 11 books in the field of psychotherapy and counseling, and many publications in national and international journals in this field.) In 2023, Battino presented eight 90-minute free master classes via Zoom to a large audience. He recently gave a four-hour presentation on uses of hypnosis to Feelink, a Mexican group. Recently he has been working on developing methods to elicit solutions from his clients, all adaptable to single-session work and secret therapy. He is also a Professor Emeritus of Chemistry, and you can see a 90-minute chemistry demonstration show via the chemistry section of his website.

The HIE meeting brings together leading experts and practitioners of hypnosis to exchange ideas on what they are doing in their work. It will offer participants: 1) Powerful insights from a panel of experts – ideas that can be readily applied in their hypnotic work as well as their own lives, 2) A forum to share and practice hypnotic ideas with each other, and 3) A source of professional community and camaraderie during these uncertain times.
